Finland is a strange place, internationally known as the final frontier.

Between east and west, Finland is and has always been the center of international espionage

and spying. Among other things. One things Finns have always loved is dancing and disco culture.

This has generated a peculiar genre of its own: FINNHITS.

Western disco hits molded to fit the fenno-ugric taste. Sometimes the translations of the lyrics cross the border to the tasteless, but here we do not discriminate, rather just document the innocent times

of a bygone era, when there was much less foreign influence in Finland. Still Finland wanted desperately a piece of the pie, The american dream, if you will.

Some of these tracks have stood the test of time and hold their own against the originals.

Some are just plain tacky and hilarious in an unintented way, especially if you understand the lyrics.

On this list there are plenty of cover versions of US and European songs as well as Finnish originals.
