PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC "P-FUNK" APPRECIATION POST

This blog post is to show appreciation to one of the funkiest groups of all time,

"The Parliafunkadelicment thang" AKA "The P-Funk Mob".

On top of the original groups "Parliament" and "Funkadelic" it spawned seemingly endless off-shoots,

side-projects and solo albums, including but not limited to:

Bootsys Rubber band, Fred Wesley and the Horny Horns, Parlet, Brides Of Funkenstein,

Space Cadets, P-Funk All Stars, Bernie Worrell, Eddie Hazel, Fuzzy Haskins, George Clinton,

Flo, Traylewd, Jimmy G. & The Tackheads, Sterling Silver Starship, Ruth Copeland, Xavier, Quazar,

Godmoma, Mutiny, Jeannie Reynolds, Incorporated Thang Band, Axiom Funk,

Red Hot Chili Peppers (George Clinton produced "Freaky Styley")...

                                            Funkadelic - First album - 1970 - Westbound records

If you are new to this I recommend you start with the classic LP´s, the first Funkadelic albums

and the first Parliament albums. Once you are hooked (you will be),  you can move on to

Bootsy, Eddie Hazel and Horny Horns.

The iron on T-shirt tranfer featured with Parliament´s "P-funk Earth tour" 2-LP live album

The original copies are getting pricey, but are worth collecting

for the amazing artwork and oftentimes reissues can not reproduce the intricate detail of the designs hand drawn by the likes of Pedro Bell, Overton Lloyd and Ronald Edwards,

not to mention all the inserts, iron-ons, paper dolls, cardboard sunglasses etc. oftentimes featured on

original  p-funk releases.

                                                  Parliament - Osmium 1970 - Invictus label

(there is a reissue of this with bonus tracks called "Rhenium")

Fred Wesley and the Horny horns feat. Maceo Parker -1977 LP

"A blow for me a toot for you"

                                                            artwork (c) "Romel" Edwards

For those already "knee deep" in the world of P-funk,

I am going to provide some links to various deeper funkadelia items to further improve your  interplanetary funkmanship.
